BSA Membership Standards

Thank you for your interest in Troop 82!  Hopefully you have had a chance to read about our troop and its history on our Home page. 

Troop 82 has experienced tremendous interest in membership over the past several years and we hope it will continue to do so.  While Troop 82 leaders wish to welcome everyone into scouting, we unfortunately must restrict the number of members accepted due to the size of our meeting facility and other program constraints.

Troop leadership begins collecting applications in February each year.  The deadline for first round of applications is May 1.  However, please be advised that the Troop Committee will begin meeting in late March to make decisions regarding invitations to prospective candidates.  Therefore, the sooner you complete the application, the better.  

The Troop Committee will consider a number of factors such as troop capacity, candidate accomplishments, character, commitment to Troop 82, legacy, and leadership.  Troop 82 is committed to promoting future community leaders.  The decision of the Troop Committee is final.  Once the new class is filled, additional applications will be placed on a waiting list.

Once your application has been submitted, please remit payment for the $60 New Scout Application Fee; pay Online

After your membership in Troop 82 has been formally approved, you will be notified as soon as possible.  There will be periodic communication over the Summer, but no action is required until August.  At that time, you will be sent a link facilitating an official BSA application.  You will also be invited to an orientation meeting in late August or early September.
