Training for Adults is very much encouraged, and the training is very beneficial and educational.  The training for adults parallels the training for Scouts.  To see a chart depicting this, please click this link:  clubportal/images/clubimages/1336/Training%20Continuum%20for%20Scouts%20and%20Adults%20%20%20PDF%20%20%20%20.pdf

 Adult Training

Youth Protection, Fast Start, This Is Scouting, and Leader Specific Training are the basic courses that every adult leader should have within 90 days of registering as a Boy Scout Leader.

Youth Protection (Basic and Venture Version)

The Basic version gives a thorough understanding of the Boy Scouts of America’s Policy on how to protect youth from emotional, physical and sexual abuse; and how adults can protect themselves from false accusations of emotional, physical and sexual abuse.  The Venture version specifically addresses the changes older teens go through as they mature, and how these changes affect the way they interact with each other and adults.  Many of these older scouts are still active in Boy Scout Troops; therefore, the Venture Version of this course is recommended for Boy Scout Leaders/parents, not just Venture Leaders/parents.  Offered online at olc.scouting.org.

Fast Start (Boy Scout Version)

This course is designed to give a quick orientation to Boy Scouting.  It will help you prepare for your first meeting as a Boy Scout Leader/parent by covering the Troop Meeting, the Troop Committee, the Outdoor Program and the Basic Concepts of Scouting.  Offered online at olc.scouting.org.

This is Scouting

This course is the first stage of the BSA's basic training program. It is designed for all new adult leaders entering the Scouting program.  It is offered online at olc.scouting.org.
