Notice to those interested in joining Troop 82: Troop 82 runs its program on a school year calendar. The troop begins its recruitment for the following school year in February of each year. In March of each year the Troop hosts Cub Scouts and other interested boys at a Troop meeting and at a Troop campout for the prospective boys to see the Troop in action. By June of each year, the Troop endeavors to finalize the roster for the next school year. Many times boys can join after June or anytime during the school year, but this is not always available due to facility size restraints and program restraints. Therefore, please contact us in February if at all possible, but feel free to contact us at anytime and we will do our best to serve your needs. Feel free to contact us at troop82@hptroop82.org .

The Founder of the Boy Scout movement is Robert Baden-Powell, and his ultimate goal of Scouting was to promote world peace from the viewpoint "If everyone lived by the Scout Oath and Law, how could there not be world peace?" Here are some quotes from the founder of the Scouting movement:
1. A Scout is never taken by surprise; he knows exactly what to do when anything unexpected happens.
2. A Scout smiles and whistles under all circumstances.
3. An individual step in character training is to put responsibility on the individual.
