BACKGROUND

Since this Troop was originally chartered in 1963, over five thousand Scouts have been members and almost 600 have attained Eagle Scout!  Currently our membership runs around 220 Scouts each school year, representing different schools in several areas of Dallas.

PURPOSE
Troop 82 exists to encourage and teach young men responsibility and duty to God, Country, others, family, and to themselves utilizing the principles of being Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful, Friendly, Courteous, Kind, Obedient, Cheerful, Thrifty, Brave, Clean, and Reverent; the 12 Points of the Scout Law. As a Scout Troop, we fellowship and learn Scouting skills. This is accomplished with the Monday night troop meetings, monthly campouts and other special events.

ORGANIZATION
Troop 82 has a highly organized structure in order to efficiently manage the needs of the Scouts.  There is a Scoutmaster, and several Assistant Scoutmasters, commonly referred to simply as "Scoutmasters", who aid in specific areas of the Troop enabling the Scoutmaster to better supervise the entire group.  A list of adult leaders for the troop can
be found in the "library" link at left.
